This model is probably remembered fondly: the C 63 AMG Coupé – and that with 517 PS / 380 kW in the Black Series version. In 2011, the most powerful C-Class ever, which accelerated to the 100 km / h mark in 4.2 seconds.

“The C-Class of superlatives – spectacular design, technology transfer from motorsport and driving dynamics at the highest level.” – so it was said in the press kit when the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series was presented in 2011. But indeed: Wide, deep, and powerful and almost ready to jump when standing still – the Black Series model made an impression and was – and is – created for fast laps on a closed race track.

6.3 LITER DISPLACEMENT WITH 380 KW / 517 HP AND 620 NM TORQUE

6.3 liter displacement, a maximum output of 380 kW (517 hp) and 620 Nm of torque from eight cylinders – a first look at the technical data quickly makes it clear that the technology of the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series holds what the impressive look promises. The high-speed naturally aspirated M156 engine was specially refined for the new two-door model: Forged pistons, connecting rods and the lightweight crankshaft from the SLS AMG were used. The measures are accompanied by a new engine control unit. As the driving performance proves, the performance-enhanced V8 engine with the coupé is also easy to play: the sprint from a standing start to 100 km / h is completed in 4.2 seconds.

Optimized engine oil cooling with components of the SLS AMG

The optimized engine oil cooling also guarantees more performance even in tough race track use. With the help of components from the SLS AMG, the AMG experts have realized a cooling surface of around 50 percent larger for the oil coolers. Power transmission is carried out by the recognized innovative AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission. Four driving programs, the double-declutching function and RACE START promise maximum driving pleasure and great variability. In the “Sport plus” and “Manual” driving programs, gear changes only take 100 milliseconds.

Newly developed AMG sports suspensionThe AMG sports suspension also presented itself as a sophisticated new development. As usual in motorsport and typical of a Black Series model, it is designed as a coilover. It offers numerous setting options and allows the driver to carry out his personal setup. The track width of the axles was widened by 40 (front) and 79 millimeters (rear).

In conjunction with the modified stabilizers, the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series impresses with its pronounced driving dynamics, high grip and low side tilt. The AMG sports parameter steering enables excellent vehicle control: the newly tuned map for servo assistance ensures optimum steering precision.The standard AMG rear axle limited slip differential with locking effect in train and in push is responsible for reliable traction, especially in race track operation. The 3-stage ESP® offers the right solution for all driving situations. In view of the higher driving dynamics, not only has the anti-lock braking system been completely re-tuned, but also the AMG high-performance braking system has been redeveloped: a larger braking system with discs in engine technology-proven composite technology is used on the front axle (format: 390 x 36 millimeters) and integral discs the rear axle (360 x 26 mm). Red-painted six-piston fixed calipers at the front and four-piston fixed calipers at the rear delay the all-round ventilated and perforated brake discs reliably and steadily.

115,430 euros in the basic equipmentThe vehicle itself went to the customer for € 115,430.00 at the time – at least in the basic setup and with standard equipment. The standard equipment was kept quite lean, including Audio 20 CD radio, THERMATIC automatic climate control, AMG door sills and an AMG sports pedal system made of stainless steel. On request, the vehicle was also available with a rear seat bench (or single seat system in the rear) and normal C 63 AMG sports seats.

AERODYNAMIC PACKAGE OPTIONAL

The AMG aerodynamics package (with real carbon flics and coordinated carbon front splitter and fixed carbon rear wing) was optionally available for 7,973.00 euros, the AMG exterior carbon package was 5,831 euros, the AMG Track Package (including sports tires and active rear axle transmission cooling) at 5,890.50 euros, AMG Performance Media at 2,320.50 euros.
